Happy New Year babes! Can you believe it’s already 2018 🙈 To kick off my brand-new fashion & lifestyle blog, I decided to write a couple of travel posts that reflect on my travels while studying abroad. It was about this time last year that I was getting ready to take flight for Florence, Italy and boy do I wish I were in the same boat this year!
One memorable weekend trip I took while abroad was to Interlaken, Switzerland and it was by far one of my favorite places I visited. From the crisp, winter air to the beautiful mountains and Swiss chocolate, this quaint town definitely holds a special place in my heart. That being said, I made a list of the Top 3 Things you HAVE to do if you ever find yourself in this miraculous town. So, let’s “jump” right into it!
1. Go Paragliding!
This. Is. A. Must! Honestly, I cannot stress this outdoor activity enough especially with a view as breathtaking as the one you'll get while gliding over Interlaken. The company I went through is called Twin Paragliding (http://www.fly-twin.comand) and all of the pilots are extremely well trained because they have been doing this for years. My pilot’s name was Hans, if you end up with him tell him I say hello! Even though he probably won’t remember me 😂. They also offer you a GoPro video and photos they will take during your glide. I totally recommend purchasing this! It is worth every penny.
2. Eat Swiss Chocolate or Drink a Hot Chocolate.
I mean, this one is kind of a given because there truly isn’t anything quite like the taste of genuine Swiss chocolate. I purchased a hot chocolate from Funky Chocolate Club Switzerland (https://funkychocolateclub.com) where they also offer a chocolate making class and will ship their signature chocolate to anywhere in the world! It makes a perfect gift for a loved one.
Hot chocolates my friends and I enjoyed during our "hike-break".
3. Visit Lake Brienz and/or take a hike in the mountains!
Interlaken is between two lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and I highly recommend visiting at least one of them! I visited Lake Brienz and the water is seriously the purest shade of turquoise, you won’t believe your eyes. Aside from being extremely peaceful to look at, you can also kayak on the lake if you so desire. Lastly, if you have time, I also recommend asking a local or a representative at your hostel/hotel for a hiking trail recommendation. My friends and I did this one-day and it was seriously one of the best hikes I think I’ll ever take in my life. The views are stunning!

And that’s it folks! Most importantly, simply enjoy your time in Switzerland and embrace the small town, cozy vibes Interlaken oozes in. Below I will link the hostel I stayed at as well as the YouTube video I constructed with the clips I purchased from paragliding. If you have any more questions or would like to share your experience in Switzerland with me, feel free to reach out or leave a comment down below! I would love to hear about your adventures 😊Till next time hauties!
