This past semester, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad and live in a foreign country for four miraculous months. Seriously, simply writing that sentence makes my jaw drop because I still cannot fathom that was my reality. If you ever get the option to study abroad in school, I 110% recommend taking advantage and doing it! I honestly feel like I learned more about the world and myself in the months I studied abroad than I have in my entire life. 😅
The country I choose to reside in was Florence, Italy and let me tell you, it did not take long for me to fall completely head over heels in love with Firenze. Now, I am nowhere near an expert on Florence but during the time I was living there, there was definitely an activity that sticks out to me as being one of the most rewarding and memorable. This activity was walking up the many, many steps to Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset.
Piazzale Michelangelo is famously known as being the “postcard” view of Florence with panoramic views of the city that seriously leave you more breathless than the climb up. That being said, the best way I enjoyed the views was when my friends and I hiked at sunset with All’Antico Vinaio sandwiches and two bottles of wine. I mean you can’t really get more touristy than All’Antico Vinaio and Piazzale Michelangelo, but I guarantee it will only take one time before it becomes one of your favorite activities in Florence too.
My favorite sandwhich from All'Antico Vinaio was "L'INFERNO"(pictured above) but they have multiple different flavor combinations and you can customize your own if you want!
So grab a bottle of Chianti, Tuscany’s Signature Wine, (or a Rose Gold Pinot Noir for photo ops like moi 😉), your fellow travel buddies and head on up to Piazzale Michelangelo. It is the perfect way to embrace the beautiful Florentine culture and you will not be disappointed! Talk soon fellow hauties!
